With more than twenty years of working in the fields of art, design, and printing, La Bourgeoise Sérigraphe has all the expertise you could wish for when it comes to realizing your craziest projects! Don't hesitate to challenge us with whatever it is you can dream up - we will do our best to make it happen or will guide you to the appropriate resources.
Our studio can print small to medium quantities (1-500 pc.)on any type of flat material, to the exception of cylindrical or round objects, as long as it is technically possible with our equipment. Our maximum format is 40x50 inches. Generally speaking, we recommend using only a few colours and ordering at least 50 units, otherwise the screen printing process won’t be very profitable for you. It is possible to print smaller quantities, but the price per item will be quite high. We are always happy to consult with you and provide an estimate.
Inkjet printing (giclée)
The studio offers high-quality inkjet printing on various types of paper with a maximum format of 60'' (without bleed). You can choose between a wide range of paper: regular paper, photo paper, polypropylene or archival cotton rag. You can also choose between various thicknesses. We have sample books available for you to browse so you can find your ideal material. Generally speaking, inkjet printing is profitable for designs with many colors and printed in small to medium quantities. The density of color achieved is very comparable to that of screen printing. And unlike screen printing, the setup fee is very low, so it's possible to print very few copies.
Screen printing class
La Bourgeoise Sérigraphe offers beginner classes for anyone who is curious about the technique - you don’t need to have a background in the art to join in. The course covers the entire process of screen-printing, from the preparation of a custom image to the reproduction of this same image in various colors, on a wide range of media.
During this class, students will learn all the steps of the screen-printing process and will produce up to twelve prints in different colours and on various materials.
Number of students: 5 to 6 people
Goal: to to learn about the entire process while creating a project in 3 colours on either paper or textile (student’s choice).
Cost per person: $150 + tax
The studio provides all materials (including ink, tools, and a wide selection of papers and cardboards). If you prefer to work with textiles (for example, a T-Shirt or cloth bag), you will have to provide these.
Characteristics of this class: Time flies when you’re having fun! This class moves quickly. You will need to choose between printing on paper OR textile. The printing phase lasts about 3.5 hours and you will be able to take home 12-15 prints home with you at the end of the day.
This class is divided into two parts: a 3-hour preparation that teaches you the foundations of the process (the technical part), and a 9-hour day of printing (the practical part).
Number of students: 4 people.
Goal: to learn about the entire process while creating up to 3 projects in 1 to 3 colours each on paper and textiles, as well as on three-dimensional media, such a a box, per example.
Cost per person: $275 + tax
The studio provides all materials (including ink, tools, and a wide selection of papers and cardboards). If you prefer to work with textiles (for example, a T-Shirt or cloth bag), you will have to provide these. Feel free to bring any material you are interested in, in order to experiment as much as possible. You will be able to take home about 12 paper, 8 textile pieces and roughly 8-10 pieces of something else.
Characteristics of this class: You can print on paper, textiles, and three-dimensional materials. The printing phase lasts about 7 hours, which allows you more time to experiment, ask questions and memorise what you’re learning, and to have fun!
We are able to welcome groups to a maximum of 20 people. Can’t come to us? We can also bring screen-printing to you! We organize and mobilize live printing events for a wide-range of activities, which allows us to accommodate a much larger group if necessary.
During a typical teambuilding activity, we prepare a range of ready-to-print images from our image stock or use images that you selected for us, and make some screens ahead of the session. We then guide you through the steps of printing on both paper and tote bags, which you can take home with you at the end of the day. We also offer an introduction to linocut printing and/or a demonstration of copper engraving for those interested.
We can adapt to your needs, but suggest a session of roughly 3 to 4 hours in our studio. Cost depends on the materials selected (t-shirts, linocut, totebags) and wether you provide us with images to prepare for you or not. The average cost per person is $20-25 per hour.
Rental of the studio is offered to anyone with solid screen printing experience who wishes to create on a regular basis for their own production. Artists can either rent by the day or purchase a block of studio hours that are valid for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. People who wish to rent the space need to have completed a screen-printing class in a school, a recognized studio or institution, or with us. While we are present during the time of your rental and are available to provide advice, we do not assist you with your printing, so it's important you know what you are doing.

Printing contracts for a third party
Users who wish to print for a third party, either for free or for money, cannot use their regular studio subscription hours. For contract work, there is a flat fee of $20 an hour to be paid separately to the studio for each printing job. This fee includes the use of the studio screens but not the paper, inks or acetates. Users may not offer their printing services to any client of the studio, or undermine the studio in any ways.
Rental of the studio is possible Monday-Friday, between 9am and 6pm. Occasionally printing on the weekends can be organised, but this requires prior arrangement. Please feel free to get in touch with us if this is something you wish to discuss. The renter must use their hours before the end of the 12-month period. All unused hours will not be reimbursed by the studio. However, they can be added to the hours of a new subscription.
